Coloma Bertran Quartet
CATALONIA | 2022 PARTICIPANT
Coloma Bertran is a catalan violin player and composer with an eclectic spirit. Classically trained at Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya. Attracted by the different acoustic possibilities of violin playing, she dived into very diverse musical worlds, learning by ear and self-learning styles such as: Mediterranean, Flamenco, Irish, Gypsy Jazz, Tango and Bluegrass music. It is through this quest to expand her musical panorama that she moves to Paris to study and deepen jazz violin and improvised music with Didier Lockwood. She collaborated with a large number of bands of all kinds of genres and disciplines. In 2020 Coloma Bertran recorded her solo debut album “Nocturns i diamants” (Microscopi, 2020) a poetic proposal where she experimented with loops and effects in solo violin tracks, also including violin and voice themes, featuring some well-known singers from the Catalan music scene, who sang her compositions on Víctor Sunyol and Jaume Coll’s lyrics. Coloma Bertran is currently presenting her quartet new work “Principis” (Microscopi, 2022) where she experiments with multicultural influences. She’s backed up by Quim Abramo i Soldevila, Franco Molinari and Joan Carles Aguerri.
