VÍÍK

DENMARK | 2021 PARTICIPANTS

The Scandinavian sextet VÍÍK from Norway, Sweden and Denmark, exists in a field between the hypnotic Nordic song tradition, progressive jazz and alternative rock.

At the front of VÍÍK is the Norwegian folk singer and composer Elisabeth Vik, who lures the audience into an enchanting universe of mysterious medieval ballads and fairytales, while reinventing the musical framework of Nordic folk music. Music Magazine GAFFA had this to say about the band’s live performance at The Danish Music Awards:

“VÍÍKs expressionistic narrative explosivity, was awe inspiring and deeply fascinating!”

Having been nominated for “Live act of the year” at the 2020 Danish Music Awards Roots, after playing together for only one year, VÍÍK have an exciting future ahead of them.

In addition to Elisabeth Vik, VÍÍK consists of
Annelene Toft (violin),
Villads Hoffmann (cittern),
Morten Alkjær Lassen (accordion),
Jakob Kragesand (double bass) from Denmark and finally
Mårten Hillbom (percussion) from Sweden.
